The Foundation of Shooting: Ashibumi (Stance and Foot Placement)
Ashibumi, or foot placement, is the foundation of the Kyudo shot.
If your stance is unstable or uneven, your body becomes misaligned.
From that misaligned posture, you may still try to hit the target — but the entire shot will lack balance and beauty.
Once you develop the habit of shooting from a distorted stance, it becomes very difficult to correct later.
That’s why it’s essential to build a solid foundation from the start.
Take your time to align your feet properly and form a strong, centered base.
