The Eight Stages of Shooting in Kyudo (Shahō-Hassetsu)

In Japanese Kyudo, the goal is not simply to hit the target.
Each movement follows a precise form, from preparing the bow to releasing the arrow, and finally to finishing with a calm mind.

This sequence is called Shahō-Hassetsu — the “Eight Stages of Shooting.”

Whether the arrow hits the target or not, what matters most is keeping a steady heart.
This discipline helps cultivate a mind that remains undisturbed, no matter the result.
